Manaiakalni Film Festival 2019
Yesterday our whole school travelled on a bus to go to the Sylvia Park Hoyts to watch and learn what we and the other schools filmed. Schools that were apart of the Manaikalani films were Glen Brae, Glen Innes, Glen Taylor, Panmure Bridge, P.t England, Stone Fields, St Pius, Sommerville, Tamaki Primary, St Patrick's, Te Kura Kaupapa Maori School and lastly Tamaki College.
In my thoughts my favourite film from all of the ones I've watched was Tamaki Zombies from Tamaki primary school because I liked how they put emotions and feelings into the film and how they dressed up like superheros.

Kiwi Can Jam 2019😎
For our group we have showed cased a skit based on Avengers coming to save the people with the cookie jar, a girls dance and a group dance for last. For me what our group attended I think we did our best even though we mucked up we still tried. It was solid watching other schools perform as well they did a really good job.
Hearing from our principle, Mrs Hamilton: we did a great job from watching through the sides.
That will be a night to remember 😋

Smart relationships
Smart Relationships- First of all you have to be very careful on being online social media, the reason being is something might happen which might not be expected to for example chatting online. Be careful of who you are communicating with or interact with because first you might not know the person, second of all they might be a stranger to you and third they may approach you. To those who may have been doing it I'm telling you to STOP IT! because this may lead to destruction.
These things are very bad to people who are especially under aged it can also include adults. Remember when you are online think before you do something and watch out for yourself when you are on social media.

Halloween
Everyone has all sorts of things that they find scary or they are afraid of, people are trying to avoid these kind of things.
One thing seems to save us what.. our friends. when your friends are with you you seem to become not scared and more brave. Friends help encourage you to face those scary things instead of avoiding it, they also help to not let the bad fears or the bad scary things that are happening to not come. A good friend like this is a actual true caring friend.
Remember to always face your fears and the things your afraid of because i'll tell you right now they don't exist , they are fake and they're not worth it.

Fire Breaks out in Sky City
A major fire has hit Auckland's convention center. Large flames were quickly heading to the very top of the building but the fire fighters thought that it was very difficult to get inside to the top. The fire was starting on the seventh floor before spreading to the sixth.
One of the St John fire fighters has says one of the person that was part of the incident has sadly got sent to the hospital for a serious condition.
These are the kind of incidents you need to be careful with because you won't know what would happen to you at the end of the day if you've got hurt, so my advice for you's out there that are going to go the city sometime is to be careful of yourself and of course be safe.

Wellington Airport Colours Segulls To Track Them
Did you know that Wellington Airport has a hundred of coloured seagulls to help with safety. The seagulls were coloured with food dye to deal with the risk of bird strikes endangering flights. Wellington airport has said that the seagulls has become such a problem so they have decided to put 3 landfills around the city to see if everything going okay when there are flights happening. This is only happening because the cause of dangering the seagulls have made, this is just only for people's safety on air.

Back to School!
Getting back to school for term 4 is not my type, we have to do a lot of testing before we hit college and that is not fair. Well it can be fair because when we start college no one's there to help you. You have to try figure your way up, to lead you to the very top. But for me getting back to school is kind of fun at times cause you get to hangout with your friends, get in trouble and obviously learning (depends on what subjects we do)
But yeah guys here we are back to the coolest place ever 😉ðŸ˜

Prime Minister Ardern meets with the Twitter CEO
New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has met up with Jack Dorsey the twitter CEO. She has said if he could extremely get rid of the groups on the social media site. The reason why Prime Minister Ardern has had a meeting with Jack Dorsey is because to keep people safe online and to get rid of the extreme views.
My thoughts on this is Twitter shouldn't be banded. People should just be careful on social media and know what their doing before they do it. It is very important to think before you actually do things your going to do!

Netball 2019
Yesterday my Netball team and I went to the AMI Courts to compete against other schools. Our team did the best to make our school proud. We lost 3, drew 1 and won 2 games out of the whole 6 games we played. We were a little bit unlucky by coming 13th out of 20 but we did good. For me I was happy to leave school from doing work to have fun out there. My favourite part of the day was eating junk food and representing our school.
Well done team!

Scary Newss
A US woman is terrified of spiders and one has been in her ear. She had noticed that she had a sore ear and went to the doctors to find out what was sore about it. She got the doctors to try and pull the spider out of her ear. If that highly venomous brown recluse spider had bitten her then it would've caused itching, muscle pain, nausea, headaches and sweating. She has said that from now on she's going to sleep with earplugs.
It is important to take responsibility of your own body especially when a spider comes visiting.

Dunedin airport installs body scanners for domestic flights
Dunedin airport has installed body scanners for them to detect concealed objects that aren't supposed to be in their clothing. Out of the country they're the first airport to install body scanners, the same scanners have been installed into Auckland airport International Terminal as well. The only reason why they are installed is because the airport security can be in live with what happens oversea.

Kayaking !
Today's lesson was all about kayaking. When we arrived there we all had to get dressed and then the tutor had to explain how to kayak and use a paddle before we hopped in our own boat. When I was in my boat I felt comfortable and I was ready to go out there to have a lot of fun in the water paddling, getting splashed and falling off the boat.
Today was really fun and I mean really fun, especially getting wet out there and bumping into each others boats. I have experienced and learnt a lot of things (beside kayaking).
I just want to thank the sponsor once again for giving us a second chance to be there.
I hope to go there again if you would allow us.

WORLD CHAMPIONS - Silver Ferns win thriller
New Zealand are the new Netball World Champions.
The Silver Ferns have defeated Australia with 52-51 to claim the Netball World Champions.
Australia had been the Netball World Champions since 2003.
Australia fought back in the final quarter and won by 3 goals but New Zealand did enough to hang on.
I'm so glad that the Silver Ferns made us happy, I just want to say keep up the good work and I hope you win some more games.
Tamaki Estuary
Yesterday the whole school and 3 special guests from the zoo went to see the Tamaki Estuary River.
Us year 8 and year 7 students had to partner up with someone to help collect rubbish that has been found. My partner was Ray Ray. We had found and collected a lot of rubbish and had fun walking around and admiring the view.
The main reason we went to the Tamaki Estuary was to experience and help make the sea healthy by collecting up rubbish. Us students from Ruapotaka School didn't want to make the sea unhealthy and didn't want our sea creatures suffering and dying from the filthiness.
It is important to keep our environment safe and clean not dirty.

Tornado Hits Northland And Damages House
Around a dozen houses in Northland have been damaged by a tornado and strong winds this morning.
Cooper's Beach area has been damaged by roof tops getting lifted up from the tornado. There has been no reports of serious injuries which is good. However Cooper's Beach residents had said that it was a frightening experience but they had saved themselves by ducking into a motel from the tornado that had nearly hit them.
From me I hope that their safe.

Teachers Take Strike Instead Of Teaching Us!
Teachers went on strike yesterday to get a better pay. In total around 50,000 teachers went on strike and failed to turn up to school. That means around 750,000 students couldn't be taught. The government has offered 3 percent rise over the next 3 years due to low payments.
There might be another teachers strike according to the news but they shouldn't because they should be teaching.

New Phone Number For New Zealand Police
On Friday the 10th of May, there has been a announcement pronounced by the police. They said that they've changed their contact number to 105. They said the number 111 hasn't been replaced yet, that contact is for anyone who has emergencies.
My opinion is that they could've left as before because if they had changed it than I would've had a feeling that it would be difficult and confused for others but it isn't my choice it's their choice.
But remember if u want to dial the police - 105
If you have emergencies than dial - 111

Prince William Comes To New Zealand!
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Prince William had spent some time in Christchurch supporting families of the victims who died in mosque attack.
The second day of Prince Williams visit, Christchurch had met up with about 160 survivors and family members. He said that Christchurch and New Zealand's response to the shooting was an example to inspire the world.
My class and I had a talk about the mosque attack saying things like praying for the families and survivors who had been injured and had 2 minutes of silence.
It is important to love one another no matter what if you don't like someone because of their religion or their personality. We are all the same
SO THINK TWICE!

KiwiCan 🥰 🙄
Today Room 12 and I had the opportunity to have our first session with Kiwi Can.
Miss Tuia and Mrs Mac were with us today, and as we know they both work for the KiwiCan company.
Firstly they introduced themselves and explained 5 rules we should benefit from.
They were:
1. Respect others
2. Ask Questions
3. Listen to the speaker
4. Don't be shy give it a try
5. Have fun
They were also talking to us about what these 2 words mean (highlighted in bold down the bottom for you)
Our theme for this term is Integrity = Being honest and strong
Our Topic for this term is Honesty = Being truthful
Next we played 3 different games:
First was = Bang
Second was = Changing Places
Lastly was = GKQ = stands for General Knowledge Questions
I've really enjoyed my first session of KiwiCan and getting to know the 2 tutors that had come today. I hope they had fun with us and keep KiwiCan going at least for a year!

Measle Outbreak In Christchurch!
A widespread outbreak has hit Christchurch!
20 people have been confirmed to have caught the measles. Canterbury District has been forced to buy supplies that they need to help those who have been affected.
Measles could be a very contagious disease which could easily spread out to those around.
It's very important to not catch these kinds of diseases otherwise it will SPREAD!!

Smart Learners (Passwords)
Passwords. Passwords are one of the most essential things to learn about if you don't know how to make the right decisions.
Sharing your own password is a very childish thing to do. Passwords are meant to be a personal thing, which means it's just for yourself and not for others. It is not safe to share your password with anyone because they could steal your identity and create problems for you.
I'm encouraging you now that it is necessary to not spread or share any of your personal information!

Back To School for 2019l!
It's a new year and it's precisely 2019.
This year will be very busy and hard for me, I will be pushing myself further to achieve my goals. I am looking forward to finding a suitable college that is good for me to enroll in. I also hope that I can expand my knowledge and become smarter, so I can achieve other things that are too complicated for me.
Mrs Hamilton has adjusted to being the new principal of our school.
